Ladies Section

Our Ladies Section is very friendly and new members, whatever their ability, are always made to feel welcome. We have an excellent mentoring system where the Mentor will tailor the support required to each person’s individual needs & preference. All new members receive a Welcome Book which is packed with information about the Ladies Section and the club.

Our main competition day for Ladies is Wednesday, with an alternate day (generally with booked tee times) on a Saturday or occasionally a Sunday. For every 18-hole qualifier we try to ensure a 9-hole qualifier is run, enabling everyone to play competitively for many years.

We have over 30 Trophy Competitions throughout the year alongside many ‘fun’ competitions. There are Summer & Winter Knockout competitions, Ladies & Mixed which are popular. Our Club Championship is a 36-hole, scratch competition over one day, with other nett prizes available. We also have several competitions that are open to ALL club members, such as
Club AGM & Arnold Trophy. The club have also set up a ‘mid-week stableford’ competition which again is open to men & women.

The Ladies Section enters teams in several well-established national & county competitions such as the Stoneham Cup, Hayling Trophy, Legg Bowl and North Hants Trophy. The County Delegate actively encourages the Ladies to enter the many and various County Competitions run by the
Hampshire Ladies Golf (HLG –

The annual Ladies Captain Day is a great fun day of golf followed by a meal and drinks in the Club House afterwards. There are also many events for all, such as the Annual Coffee Morning, & the Christmas Lunch.

Mixed Section

The club holds both internal and open events for golfing couples. These are added to by at least a dozen friendly matches. This creates the opportunity to host visitors and to travel and play a number of courses of the same high standard as RCGC.

Blackmoor, Hayling Island and Cowdray Park along with the other venues are always very popular with members. Historically many clubs apply a principle of life partners not playing together in these matches. At Rowlands, couples play together and any single golfer wishing to play mixed golf will be found a golfing partner for the day by the organisers.

Once a year RCGC play a triangular mixed foursomes match against Hayling Island GC and Meon Valley GC. This strange event, which can cause dismay with the sight of so many players stood on the tee, started as a result of administrative error when three teams turned up to play in the same match. It has now been running for over 20 years. This years event was run and won by Meon Valley . Next year RCGC are the hosts.

To round off the season, one of the most popular events takes place, an American Greensomes Day, which attracts almost a hundred players. Followed by a carvery, prizes and medals!

It does not end there because as the winter approaches a mixed league program starts. No excuse not to get out on one of the driest courses in the area.
